Elementary Program

Our Elementary Program provides students with a well-rounded and engaging learning experience as they continue to build strong academic foundations and discover the connections between different areas of study. Through a thoughtfully designed curriculum, students are encouraged to explore, ask questions, think critically, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

A key strength of our program is the integration of subjects and collaborative teaching approach, allowing students to make meaningful connections across academics while receiving the support and guidance they need to thrive.

In addition to core subjects, students enjoy a variety of enrichment opportunities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and personal growth. Elective classes such as Music, Computers, Library, French, and Physical Education provide students with opportunities to explore new interests, develop new skills, and experience a balanced education that nurtures the whole child.

A Curriculum Designed to Inspire Connections

At Mission Hills Schools, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to help students discover the relationships between different areas of learning. Rather than viewing subjects as separate, students explore how language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, engineering, performing arts, music, world languages, fine arts, and physical education work together to create a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The Elementary School Program (Grades 1–5) provides students with a well-rounded educational experience designed to support academic growth, creativity, and personal development. With class sizes of 18–24 students, teachers are able to provide meaningful instruction, individualized support, and a strong connection with each student.

The Elementary School schedule includes a comprehensive range of subjects offered at an appropriate level for each child, including:

Students also participate in a dedicated weekly Integrated Learning period—an engaging, hands-on learning experience built around real-world scenarios. Through creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and exploration, students develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, perseverance, and patience while learning to approach challenges with confidence and curiosity.

Through this balanced approach, Mission Hills students are encouraged to become thoughtful, capable learners who are prepared for continued academic success.

Preparing Students for Continued Success

At the beginning of each school year, teachers provide families with an overview of the curriculum, learning goals, and key topics students will explore throughout the year. Beyond subject-specific objectives focused on academic growth and readiness for the next level, our Elementary Program is designed to help students develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills needed to successfully transition into our Middle School Program.

Throughout the Elementary Program, students:

•Develop the confidence to ask questions, express their creativity, collaborate with others, share ideas, and strengthen their problem-solving skills.

•Discover connections between different subjects and understand that learning extends beyond the classroom through meaningful exploration, critical thinking, and curiosity.

•Build essential social and communication skills while learning to approach challenges from multiple perspectives.

•Strengthen and expand their knowledge through a thoughtfully designed curriculum that revisits key concepts across grade levels to support deeper understanding and mastery.
